Nanmibian Footabll Assiciation (NFA) Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) soccer fans can look forward to some mouthwatering action this weekend.
Quiver Football Club caught up with Mariental Sports Club at the top of the NFA Southern Stream First Division (SSFD) log after the completion of Round 12 and 13 fixtures played over the weekend. Mariental had enjoyed a one-point lead before the weekend's fixtures.
The two pace setters will first tackle Oranjemund (Mariental) and Young Brazillians (Quiver) on Saturday before facing each other on Sunday at the J. Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop. Oranjemund find themselves in the relegation zone (11th position) and will be desperate to collect some points, while Young Brazillians (4th) will hope to build on the 1-1 draw recorded against Blue Boys (9th) and a 2-0 win over Celtic (8th).
Mariental and Quiver both collected 25 points and established a three-point lead over Try Again (3rd) and Young Brazilians, both with 22 points after 13 games. Mariental (first on the log due to a superior goal difference) is still undefeated (6 wins and 7 draws) and recorded two draws against Celtic (1-1) and Blue Boys (0-0) over the weekend. Mariental have conceded only 3 goals so far and have the best defensive record in the league.
Quiver, which occupies the second spot, also accumulated 25 points from 12 games played (8 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats) and pending the outcome of a disciplinary case involving Celtic. Quiver, with the most lethal strike force in the league, having scored 20 goals, were dealt a 1-0 defeat by Date Eleven (6th) and recorded a 3-0 victory over Try Again last weekend.
Matchdays 12 and 13 Results: Try Again defeated Oranjemund with (1-0), Blue Boys and Young Brazillians played to a draw (1-1), Friends (7th) defeated Orlando Pirates (10th) with (3-0), and City Boys (5th) defeated O&L Ramblers (12th) with (1-0) in matches played on Saturday. Young Brazillians defeated Celtic (2-0), Date Eleven defeated Oranjemund (1-0), O&L Ramblers defeated Friends (3-2) and City Boys defeated Orlando Pirates (4-1) on Sunday.
