Ulterio Motiv, a company specialising in six-wheel vehicle conversions, has unveiled its latest 2026 model, the Jeep Gladiator Maximus 6x6.

The new model follows the company’s Ford Ranger 6x4 and Toyota Land Cruiser 79 6x6 conversions, adding a third axle to Jeep’s Gladiator platform to increase load-carrying capacity while retaining its off-road capability.

The Gladiator Maximus 6x6 is designed as a flexible platform that can be adapted for different applications, including overlanding, camping, specialist operations and off-road use. Customers can specify components such as suspension, wheels, tyres, bull bars and other equipment according to their requirements. The rear of the vehicle can also be configured for its intended application, with an extended loading bin providing additional cargo space compared with the standard Gladiator.

The numbers - The Jeep Gladiator is known for its off-road capability, open-air design and load-carrying capacity.

Ulterio Motiv’s conversion adds a third axle and increases the vehicle’s gross vehicle mass (GVM) capacity to 3,490kg, 690kg more than the standard vehicle. The loading capacity increases to 1,090kg, while the extended loading bin gains 1,040mm in length, taking its total length to 2,530mm. The width and depth of the loading bin remain unchanged.

Conversion and benefits - The conversion involves extending the chassis with a new rear frame engineered to accommodate standard Jeep suspension and accessories.

The original rear axle is moved to the rearmost, or third-axle, position and replaced with a re-engineered centre axle featuring drive-through capability and selectable rear-axle engagement.

Ulterio Motiv said the conversion was engineered to allow standard Jeep parts to be integrated into the driveline. Aftermarket Jeep components can also be fitted, including lift kits, larger brake systems, wheels and suspension components. The load box is extended using computer-aided design (CAD) custom panels incorporated into the standard load box. This allows standard load-box accessories to be used, although they may also require modification to accommodate the extended configuration.

The third axle also improves load distribution by spreading the vehicle’s weight across three axles rather than two. This provides a platform suited to customers carrying heavier equipment or installing specialist bodies and accessories. The resulting six-wheel-drive platform combines the Gladiator’s existing off-road characteristics with increased load-carrying capacity and additional rear cargo space. With a homologated GVM of 3,490kg, the Gladiator Maximus 6x6 can be driven on public roads with a standard driver’s licence, subject to applicable licensing requirements.
