Mahindra unveiled its new Global Pik Up on 14 August, with the vehicle scheduled to launch in India as the Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler by April 2027.

The pickup, which was first shown as a concept in Cape Town, South Africa, in August 2023, will be marketed internationally as the Mahindra Lifestyler. Mahindra said the vehicle forms part of its strategy to expand its presence in international markets. 

Designed at the Mahindra India Design Studio in Mumbai and developed at Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai, the Scorpio Lifestyler is built on the company's next-generation body-on-frame architecture. Mahindra said the pickup had been developed to meet global standards and combines utility, technology and off-road capability with everyday comfort. According to Mahindra, the vehicle was designed for both work and leisure, combining payload capacity with features aimed at lifestyle and recreational use. 

The Scorpio Lifestyler is scheduled to make its debut by April 2027. Dr Velusamy R, president of Mahindra & Mahindra's automotive business, said the company aimed to develop a global pickup that built on Mahindra's strengths in capability and value. "From the outset, our vision was to create a world-class global pickup that raises the bar for the segment while remaining true to Mahindra's strengths in authentic capability and value." He said the vehicle had been developed at Mahindra Research Valley and was engineered to provide the capability, durability, safety and refinement expected by customers in international markets.

Three editions - Mahindra has unveiled three versions of the Scorpio Lifestyler, designed around different uses and environments.

Valley Edition: Designed to combine work and leisure, the Valley Edition focuses on practicality and comfort. It is finished in Artemis Grey. Reef Edition: Inspired by outdoor and coastal exploration, the Reef Edition is finished in Aquareef. Trail Edition: The Trail Edition is aimed at off-road use and adventure and is finished in Sahara Beige.

Global ambitions - The Mahindra Lifestyler has been developed as an international product for the midsize lifestyle pickup market.

Mahindra said it would combine pickup capability and durability with global engineering and safety standards, advanced technology and a design intended to support work, recreation and everyday use. The company is targeting markets including Australia and New Zealand, South Africa, other African markets, the Middle East and Latin America.
