From off-road adventure to hybrid efficiency

Jetour has expanded its customer engagement programme in South Africa by hosting two events designed to showcase the capabilities of its T-Series vehicles and the efficiency of its new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) range.

The first event, the T-Series 4x4 Adventure Day, brought together T1 and T2 Odyssey owners and dealership representatives at the Grabouw 4x4 Trail in the Kogelberg Biosphere in the Western Cape.

Participants drove their own vehicles over a range of on- and off-road terrain after attending classroom sessions covering 4x4 driving fundamentals, vehicle systems, available technology and the T-Series drive modes. The training was presented by South African off-road specialist André de Villiers.

The programme concluded with a professionally guided convoy drive, during which participants remained in contact through two-way radio communication, allowing instructors to provide guidance throughout the route. Participants received Jetour 4x4 certification on completion of the programme, while challenge winners were awarded prizes.

Jetour launched the T-Series in October last year and introduced its plug-in hybrid SUV range in April. The T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM combine plug-in hybrid technology with the off-road capability, safety features and technology offered across the T-Series range.

The company also hosted its first T-Series PHEV Fuel Efficiency Challenge to demonstrate how drivers can maximise fuel economy by using both the electric and petrol powertrains effectively.

The challenge required participants to complete a 200 km route while achieving the best possible fuel efficiency, with the emphasis placed on economical driving rather than speed or performance.

Ten owners, accompanied by family members or partners, took part. Starting from Jetour's headquarters in Midrand, Johannesburg, they began the challenge with fully charged batteries and full fuel tanks before completing the route under a variety of driving conditions. Participants remained connected by two-way radio throughout the event.

According to Jetour, the challenge gave owners practical experience of how driving style can influence the efficiency of plug-in hybrid vehicles.

The T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM have a claimed combined driving range of up to 1,200 km with a full fuel tank and fully charged battery. Both models are equipped with an 18.4 kWh battery. The T1 i-DM offers an all-electric driving range of up to 100 km and a combined system output of 250 kW and 530 Nm, while the T2 i-DM delivers up to 90 km of electric-only driving and a combined output of 265 kW and 610 Nm.
