Namibia is known for its vast spaces and picturesque natural beauty.

Aitsa! and Enjoy recently journeyed through the ||Kharas Region, which, with a surface area of 161 325 km², is the largest region in the country. It is also the only region in Namibia with seven international border posts. The purpose of the mission was to introduce the two NMH brands to local communities and film a few On The Rocks episodes.

Aitsa! presenter Otis Daniels travelled to Keetmanshoop where he joined Herklaas Labuschagne, Carli Abrantes, Herschel Fish and Patrick Beukes at the Keetmanshoop Industrial Expo (KAITE) from 25 to 27 September. The regional showcase accommodated numerous exhibitors and was preceded by the Miss KAITE 2026 beauty pageant and a gospel show. The travellers had an enjoyable stay at Maritz Country Lodge, which is located near major tourist destinations such as the Quiver Tree Forest and the Fish River Canyon.

They then proceeded to Norotshama River Resort, situated on the banks of the Orange River, where they were treated to true Namibian hospitality. Nestled in the heart of the Aussenkehr Grape Valley, home to the largest export table grape farms in the southern hemisphere, the area is regarded as a gateway to southern Namibia’s wealth of breathtaking natural landscapes. At Norotshama’s renowned a la carte restaurant, the group enjoyed some of the best flame-grilled steaks in southern Namibia.

The following day, they set out for Sendelingsdrift, a border post between Namibia and South Africa in the Richtersveld. Here they crossed the Orange River by cable ferry to South Africa and back. The border post is usually open from 08:00 to 16:00 and also serves as an entrance to the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park.

Heading up

The next stop on the way to Lüderitz was Amica Guesthouse, situated in a peaceful neighbourhood in Rosh Pinah, a quaint mining town with an interesting history stretching back more than 100 years. Hosting the mining industry, explorers and tourists, Amica Guesthouse has been the accommodation of choice for the past 18 years of the town’s history. The establishment offers accommodation, off-site and on-site catering services, as well as conference facilities.

Upon arriving in Lüderitz, the group checked in at Alte Villa Boutique Hotel for the first day. The current owners acquired this enchanting villa, originally built in 1909 by merchants from Hamburg, Germany, in 2017. They restored it while preserving its timeless beauty, and today the villa stands as a testament to its storied past. The next day, the group moved over to the Lüderitz Nest Hotel, a highly reputable four-star establishment built next to the Atlantic Ocean. Here they enjoyed delectable seafood at the popular Penguin Restaurant.

On their way back to Windhoek, the group paid a visit to Kronenhof Lodge, a secluded sanctuary positioned between Lüderitz and Sossusvlei. There they experienced the breathtaking landscape shaped by ancient volcanic activity and the sweeping red sands that stretch across the Sperrgebiet and Namib-Naukluft Park.
