Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services and ǃNamiǂNûs councillor Suzan Ndjaleka has handed over stalls in Aus as part of efforts to support local entrepreneurs.

The five stalls, braai spots and ablution block at the Aus Settlement SME Park, valued at more than N$600,000, aim to provide entrepreneurs with infrastructure and opportunities to grow their businesses, create jobs and contribute to economic development in the constituency.

Ndjaleka said the facilities were intended to encourage entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. "These stalls are for those who are serious about doing business and who want to grow their businesses. The selected stall recipients will receive training and equipment support," she said.

She said local economic development was key to creating sustainable livelihoods and greater self-reliance. "If we want a sustainable income and to become self-reliant, we must be able to do things for ourselves and secure whatever income we can in the absence of opportunities," she said.

Ndjaleka also urged residents to use their skills and talents to create their own employment. "We are bringing infrastructure and creating a conducive environment. We cannot put up a mall right now or a massive complex, but we must start small," she said.
