Construction of the N$160 million Buchter Village Mall in Lüderitz is underway, with good progress being made following the handover of the development site by Safland Property Group to main contractor Afrideca Construction Namibia (Pty) Ltd on 18 August 2026. The 10500-square-metre Buchter Village Mall development will also feature a 50-bed lodge that will operate independently of the shopping centre. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the founder and owner of the property group, Safland CEO Kallie van der Merwe, said that the retail development to be anchored by Shoprite and with office space to rent is poised to make a major impact on the commercial landscape of Lüderitz. “Covering an area of 23 000 sqm, the project will feature a gross lettable area of 7 970 sqm. The development will also have a hospitality/hotel accommodation component with approximately 50 rooms, adding another 2 2361 sqm. The strategic location of the Buchter Village Mall at the corner of Wagenbauer Street and Lüderitz Street, just 30 metres from the B4 road as you enter the town, enhances its accessibility and is an advantage.”
