Shaping Namibia's energy landscape

The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) announced a trainee placement partnership with KAESO Energy Services in Lüderitz.


“We are celebrating the placement of new Namibian trainees, at KAESO Energy Services through our Employability Database at NYEF. Their journey in shaping Namibia's Oil & Gas sector starts today,” said Andreas Paulus, the Managing Director of NYEF). He thanked Gisela Sebastião and Jorge De Morais from KAESO Energy Services. “They responded to our call to place local content at the forefront and heart of their operations. We commend KAESO Energy Services for this great opportunity and call on more companies in the broader energy sector to provide upskilling and traineeship opportunities. This will prepare the youth for the sector as it picks up, ensuring that they are capacitated, empowered, upskilled, and given a pathway to the sector.” Paulus added that NYEF has started to engage partners to prepare for more opportunities like this. “We call on all other companies to support us in upskilling and training youth.”


Founded in 2024, NYEF is fully endorsed by NAMCOR Namibia, with TotalEnergies Namibia as its Energizing Partner. “Established by Namibian youth, NYEF is committed to engaging and empowering the next generation to actively participate in and shape the country's energy landscape. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and create opportunities for youth in the energy sector, encompassing Oil & Gas, Hydrogen, and Renewable Energy,” explained Paulus. The organisation offers a comprehensive program that includes educational resources, workshops, and discussions designed to deepen young people's understanding of the energy industry. “ We showcase success stories, provide mentorship programs, and facilitate interactions with industry leaders to inspire and guide our youth,” Paulus said.


NYEF also fosters networking opportunities through summits, conferences, and online platforms with the aim of connecting young people with key stakeholders and by promoting collaborative ventures. “We strive to create tangible opportunities for youth engagement by offering scholarships, internships, and work opportunities with industry organizations and government agencies. NYEF supports young entrepreneurs in the energy sector with business assistance and funding. Through our multifaceted approach, NYEF empowers young Namibians to become leaders and drivers of the future of Namibia's energy sector.”
